I’m a cell biologist-cum-developmental biologist currently living and doing science in Japan! I finished up my PhD in cell biology at Yale University a couple of years ago. Right now I’m studying how early folding events in fly embryos are controlled, which has implications for the formation of tissues and organs.

Skin cells protect their DNA from bumps and bruises with a jello-like response

Cells' responses to microscopic pushes and pulls prevent cancers from forming

"Insect destroyer" fungus uses tiny, squishy cannons to fire spores

Scientists are studying this fungus for use as a more environmentally-friendly insecticide

Scientists built a 4D map of cell division

Cell division involves around 600 different proteins — it could take five or so years to study a single protein
