Coral reef bacteria are being killed off by human activity
Microbes could provide important clues about the health of coral reefs
I am a microbial ecologist who loves to tell stories and dialogue on issues of social inequity. I study how the earth’s geological history shapes the stories of bacteria that live in the soil, particularly those that produce biochemical compounds that humans use. I also love learning new languages, which is why I’m currently learning how to bridge the gap between scientists and people who don’t work in science – this is a task that requires excellent translation skills!
